NewspaperTHE WORLD MUST SAY IT: RUSSIA IS A TERRORIST STATE – AND AMERICA LETS IT HAPPEN

May 7, 2025

Russia must pay – not with vague diplomatic language, not with empty resolutions, not with promises for “one day”. Russia must face real, concrete and immediate consequences.

The Russian Federation is no longer a state in the traditional sense. It is a rogue regime, a terrorist operation with a flag. The latest missile attacks reveal once again a monstrous pattern: first, a strike to destroy and terrorize civilians. Minutes later, a second strike – meticulously timed to kill those who come to help. Rescuers. Doctors. Firefighters. Volunteers. This is not war. This is terrorism, calculated and systematic.

This tactic is not new. It’s the hallmark of al-Qaeda and the Islamic State. Double strikes. Psychological warfare. Maximum carnage. And today, the world is watching Russia use these methods – in Europe, against a sovereign democratic nation – with almost no consequences from those who claim to defend global security.

And where is America? Where is the great arsenal of democracy? Too often, under Donald Trump, America wasn’t just absent – it was complicit. Trump suspended aid to Ukraine. He publicly praised Putin. He weakened NATO, demonized allies and aligned himself with dictators. His administration fed the illusion that Russia could act with impunity.

It’s not hyperbole. It’s written in blood. It’s visible in the ruins of maternity wards, in the charred remains of train stations, in the bodies of children crushed by Russian missiles. And the silence – or worse, complacency – of American leaders is treason at the highest level.

I remember fighting alongside the Americans in the “war on terror”. We were told we were fighting evil. We believed it. We saw the horror inflicted by extremists and swore it would never happen again. And today, that same evil wears a uniform, speaks Russian, and broadcasts its war crimes on state television.

Most Americans don’t support that. They are generous, brave and decent. But their democracy has been hijacked – by misinformation, by cowardice, by politicians who flirt with fascism and profit from division. And while the world waits, Russia kills.

We must not look away. We must not normalize horror. We must not allow autocrats and their apologists to write the future.

Russia is a terrorist state. And if America doesn’t stand up to it now, history will never forgive it.
