On September 9th, the small village of Yarova in Donetsk region was struck by a Russian guided bomb. At least 24 people were killed, most of them elderly, as they stood in line to receive their pensions. Nineteen others were injured.
This tragedy exposes the cruelty of this war: defenseless civilians, in one of the most ordinary moments of daily life—collecting a pension—brutally cut down by violence. Deliberately or indiscriminately killing elderly civilians is a grave violation of international humanitarian law.
These are not “collateral damages,” but crimes that must be prosecuted. Each victim is a story, a family, a memory erased.
Our NGO works so that these tragedies are not forgotten, and so that survivors receive support. Help us continue. Together, we can restore dignity to those the war tries to erase.
